The coccyx, generally often known as the tailbone, is a triangular bone situated on the base of the backbone. It’s composed of 4 fused vertebrae and is the final bone within the vertebral column. The coccyx supplies attachment factors for muscular tissues and ligaments and helps to assist the pelvic ground.
The coccyx could be fractured or dislocated attributable to trauma, equivalent to a fall or a direct blow to the buttocks. Fractures of the coccyx could be painful and should trigger issue sitting or strolling. Dislocations of the coccyx will also be painful and should require surgical procedure to right.
